CHICAGO — Hewitt Foods USA, a subsidiary of the Australian-based Hewitt Foods Pty Ltd., unveiled a new brand, The Organic Meat Co., and its USDA certified organic, grass-fed and finished beef line.
The new brand was created in response to the growing demand for organic meat and grass-fed beef. According to data from Circana, US sales of organic meat rose 14% last year, while grass-fed beef sales jumped 30%. Globally the organic meat market is projected to grow from $14.7 billion in 2024 to $27 billion by 2034, according to Claight Corp.
“Health-conscious shoppers are clear — they want food that reflects their values, tastes great and is better for them and the planet,” said Mick Hewitt, chief executive officer of Hewitt Foods USA. “That means no additives, greater transparency and products raised the right way. This launch helps move organic from a specialty item to an everyday standard.”
As a fifth-generation family business, Hewitt Foods values environmental stewardship, including regenerative agriculture. It manages or sources from over 18 million acres of certified organic land worldwide.
The company’s new line features USDA certified organic, grass-fed and finished beef with no antibiotics, added hormones or feedlot confinement.
The new Organic Meat Co. range includes:
- Organic Ground Beef 85/15
- Organic Ground Beef Value Pack
- Organic Sirloin, Ribeye, Tenderloin & Strip Steaks
The products are available through a partnership with The GIANT Co. The beef line can currently be found in 193 GIANT Co. stores across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
“At The GIANT Co., we pride ourselves on offering our customers flavorful and affordable options, every day, and adding organic beef from The Organic Meat Co. is helping us do just that,” said Jenn Graves, category manager at The GIANT Co. “We know our customers will appreciate their commitment to quality and taste, as well as the fact that they list the net weight of each item, providing added clarity at shelf level.”
