In 2025, as always, Peri & Sons Farms is focused on growing at a “studied and sustainable” pace, said Teri Gibson, the company’s director of marketing and customer relations.
The company prides itself on continuously creating and reviewing a significant body of data to inform its decision-making process.
“We don’t sway with every year’s market predictions,” Gibson said. “We grow to meet customer demand, and we focus on customers who want a consistent supply of top-quality products and appreciate our company’s dedication to certifiable food safety and sustainability, to USA-Grown product, fair labor, and also to good old-fashion honesty and ethics.”
Sustainable solution
Peri & Sons has received rave reviews for its all-paper, eco-friendly packaging solution, Earthbag.
It’s 100% plastic-free, biodegradable and compostable, made with a paper/bamboo mesh and featured a large window that offers ample product visibility, said Teri Gibson, the company’s director of marketing and customer relations.
Peri & Sons packs its red, white, yellow and combo USDA Certified Organic onions in 2- and 3-pound versions of the bag.
“We’re very pleased at how many consumers write to us and tell us how happy they are about buying produce in our Earthbag,” Gibson said. “It’s the type of responsible produce packaging that makes consumers happy today and makes the earth a better place tomorrow.”
Merchandising dos and don’ts
When it comes to merchandising fresh onions at retail, Peri & Sons has found that it’s hard for retail produce teams to deal with extra signage and display props, Gibson said.
Thus, even though Peri & Sons is happy to provide signage and props to retailers who want them, the shipper has also taken on the task of educating and enticing consumers directly.
“Our eye-catching high-graphic retail packages are designed with useful health information, graphics and QR codes to educate and excite consumers about buying and using fresh onions,” Gibson said. “For more than fifteen years, well before this current trend, we’ve been promoting produce for the good of people and planet.”
Peri & Sons has also invested big in creating an online presence, including its website, that takes consumers on a journey from farm to store and to their kitchen table.
As enthusiastic advocates for the “Know Your Food/Know Your Farm” movement, Peri & Sons provides photos, videos and social media to engage and inform people on what it takes to be a family-run Certified Sustainable Farm, growing premium and organic onions and supporting the economy in the US.
Peri & Sons is also proud of its “Cooking Good Things” project, which includes an expansive recipe database continually updated with fun, fresh, contemporary recipes.
Bimonthly, the company sends inspiring emails to over 15,000 subscribers and hires guest chefs to create lively cooking videos.
