MINNEAPOLIS — Three pork processors agreed to pay $64 million to conclude claims that the companies conspired to manipulate pork prices for consumers and other purchasers.

To settle the antitrust litigation, Tyson Foods agreed to a $50 million payment. Other defendants settling for this case included Clemens Foods at $10 million and Triumph Foods for $4 million.

Court documents confirm total settlements for this case now reach more than $180 million, including all the defendants from previous settlements.

The case was overseen by Judge John R. Tunheim of the US District Court of Minnesota who stated in March that the pork producers would need to face litigation.

The companies all denied wrongdoing following the settlement.

This latest settlement focused on companies with direct purchases of products from Tyson and the other defendants from 2014 to 2018.

Even with the settlements from many pork producers, the ongoing lawsuit against Agri Stats will continue.

Other companies previously settled in the pork cases include JBS USA, Smithfield Foods, Seaboard Foods, and Hormel Foods, among others.
