HINESBURG, VT. – Vermont Smoke & Cure, a subsidiary of Johnsonville LLC, announced it would expand its meat snack products in more of Costco’s Northeast Division.

“We’re thrilled to strengthen our relationship with Costco and bring our handcrafted products to more consumers across the country,” said Michael Schafer, commercial business lead at Vermont Smoke & Cure. “Our expansion into more Costco locations demonstrates the growing demand for premium meat snacks that don’t compromise on quality or taste.”

While rolling out into more locations, the meat snack company will also offer its new Hickory Smoked Premium Beef Stick.

Vermont Smoke & Cure explained the new offering is “ribeye in snack format,” which features hand-trimmed and ground beef to create premium smoked meat sticks.

“Our dollar and unit velocity appealed to Costco, while our superior quality at a competitive price point appeals to consumers,” Schafer said. “We never cut corners — it’s just not in our nature. The idea of using substandard meat or rushing our process offends the very fiber of our being.”

All meat sticks are put together in small batches before slow cooking for more than 18 hours and smoked with hardwood chips.

The company explained that all new products are sourced from antibiotic-free and hormone-free meat using no artificial colors, preservatives or flavors.

The products will be available in new locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.

Johnsonville purchased Vermont Smoke & Cure in 2020.
