Global bakery ingredients leader Puratos has announced its recognition at the American Bakers Association (ABA) Convention, where it received two awards in the Champions for a Better Tomorrow Awards Program. This program celebrates the commercial baking industry’s positive impact by highlighting the efforts of member companies to drive meaningful change in their communities, workplaces, and the environment.

Puratos was honored with the “Champions for a Better Tomorrow” Workplace Award for its Calling for Caring initiative. The initiative emphasizes the increasing importance of People Sustainability through a broad-based range of programs, resources and education to enhance personal wellbeing, resilience and energy.

“There has never been a more crucial time for employers to transform the workplace into a source of purpose and wellbeing for their employees,” says Barry Thrutchley, vice president of US human resources and global employee wellbeing at Puratos. “For generations, Puratos has been a 'People First' company, dedicated to providing an employee experience that promotes an integrated approach to well-being. This includes fostering a positive work environment that builds personal resilience, a sense of belonging, and a collaborative culture. By maintaining this commitment, Puratos will continue to be a sought-after workplace for both current and future talent.”

In addition, Pennant Ingredients, a subsidiary of Puratos, received the Safety Recognition Award. Created in 2016, the Safety Recognition Award acknowledges Pennant Ingredients’ exceptional commitment to workplace safety. The program recognizes member facilities’ safety performance and the implementation of effective safety and health management systems. It has increased workplace safety awareness and emphasized the importance of employee safety in the baking and allied industries. These efforts to develop strong safety programs also prove to be an investment in the company’s financial health.

“Safety is our highest priority at Pennant Ingredients,” says Nick Grenier, vice president of Pennant Ingredients. “Our team receives continuous training and actively participates in preventative, behavior-based safety programs. I am incredibly proud of our teams for their dedication and commitment to ensuring the safety of their colleagues.”
