ONTARIO, CALIF. — Ajinomoto Foods North America’s newest Posada Cruncheros rolled taco flavor hits seven top food trends to watch in 2025: global cuisines, flavor fusions, nostalgia, novelty, sweet heat, convenience and indulgence.
The new flavor, Mexican-Style Hot Chocolate Rolled Tacos, contains a chocolate filling made with cream cheese, cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne, and chili pepper, and is rolled in a crispy vanilla-battered tortilla.
Citing a report from Datassential, Ajinomoto said tacos are on 27% of US menus and are projected to grow 6% over the next four years.
“This new product offers an innovative, ready-to-eat comfort food ideal for any operation, with a flavor profile that is in the adoption phase of the menu cycle, indicating great potential for growth,” Ajinomoto said.
According to the company, the tacos maintain their crunch until the last bite, making them a great grab-and-go product offering.
Ajinomoto said the tacos are easy for kitchens to heat and serve with minimal preparation, and they can be paired with a variety of dipping sauces and toppings to offer consumers more flavors, without more effort.
Ajinomoto suggests the following varieties using ingredients an in-store bakery would already have on hand:
- Top with orange slices or strawberries
- Drizzle with a warm cinnamon glaze
- Top with whipped cream and chocolate curls
- Finish with a toasted meringue topping
