Par-baked – or bake at home – breads are increasingly popular at leading instore bakeries including Publix Super Markets.

The Publix GreenWise brand features “bake at home” breads like ciabatta. Over the years, Publix has developed a list of ingredients that shoppers won’t find in GreenWise products, which is reviewed annually to ensure that it reflects both Publix’s strict standards and feedback from customers. In addition to avoiding certain ingredients, GreenWise products use only added colors from natural sources and flours that are unbleached and unbromated.

Emerging habits

Take & Toast Bagels from Einstein Bros. Bagels are another new product that exemplifies the changing habits of American shoppers. These bagels are baked in Einstein Bros. ovens and finished in customers’ toasters, so they can enjoy the freshest, most delicious bagel in minutes. Offered in four popular bagel flavors (asiago, plain, everything, and cinnamon raisin), shoppers can find them at local grocery stores.

The bagels can be stored in the freezer to maximize freshness. When ready to eat, thaw and heat in a toaster or oven to finish. Einstein Bros. Bagels uses only high-quality ingredients with no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives and no high fructose corn syrup.
