The Original Cakerie has been awarded the coveted certification to the British Retailer Consortium’s (BRC) Global Standard for Food Safety. Its production facilities, located in Delta, B.C. and London, ON, Canada have both achieved a grade "A" — the highest grade possible for an announced audit program.

"Food safety and product excellence are of utmost importance to The Original Cakerie," says Dave Hood, president and CEO. "We have a long?standing commitment to deliver high quality and safe desserts to the marketplace. Gaining our BRC certification with the highest grade possible reaffirms this commitment and assures our customers and partners that our great-tasting products are produced under the most stringent safety standards in the world. We feel very proud of this accomplishment."

The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety is a leading global product safety and quality certification program used in over 100 countries and is recognized as a GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) benchmarked food safety scheme. A growing number of retailers, food service operators and manufacturers in North America and in Europe require this independent certification to reassure them of the capability and competence of their suppliers, and to reduce the need to carry out their own audits.

The Original Cakerie is a leading manufacturer of high-quality desserts based in Delta, British Columbia. Originally established in 1979 as a small industrial bakery producing high quality food service desserts for local restaurants in Victoria, B.C., Canada, today, The Original Cakerie creates deliciously irresistible desserts with a homemade taste for customers across North America.
